IONIC was established in 1994. The IONIC bicycle line evolved from the needs of our factory race team we formed on the back streets of Boise, ID. Initially, we weren't all that keen on the frames we were riding, so we designed and built our own. Turned out we were pretty darn good at it, so we started building bikes for people outside the team, most friends, then on to the buddies of our friends and so on and so......
The key to our success has been the race team. Having a group of eager test pilots helped us create bomb proof products that can withstand the test of time. Our racers continue to field test all our bikes from prototypes to production models - no stone goes unturned.
IONIC has had a low profile, but that's beginning to change. The important thing to remember is we are a bicycle company, not a marketing company. Our products are designed for function and, yes, they have industrial qualities other than their appearance. We find beauty in the function of simple design.
